Dr. Notes

I forgot to mention that I went to the Dr. this week and started my shots for the trip to China. I got Hep A and B and a DT booster. While I was there my Dr. asked if I wanted to participate in the flu shot study for $75. Basically I got the flu shot for free and am getting paid to record any symptoms like muscle soreness, fever, etc. No symptoms here...I'm just $75 richer! Since my Dr. is a family physician, she sees anyone from pediatrics to geriatrics and since I personally think she is the greatest Dr. ever invented I asked her to be Eliza's Dr. While I was there I asked about formula, pedialyte, prescriptions. Here's the 411...She suggested I try and keep the baby on whatever she is used to, and if I can't get a hold of that then use a milk based formula. I also asked if I should plan on bringing powdered pedialyte (kaolectrolyte or gerber brand) or if I could substitute gatorade since it is cheaper. She said Gatorade is basically sugar and pedialyte is much better. Hey it was worth a try...gatorade is 1/10 the price. She was also more than willing to give me prescriptions for the baby and myself for the trip. I was relieved because I've heard of Dr.s that won't do this. Mine told me she would do whatever I needed. I'm glad I finally started the series of shots. I was tempted to skip the shots all together...they weren't so bad.
