Welcome to the neighborhood
I am feeling really guilty right now. This morning I heard a big growl and then a cat screeching. I looked out the window to see a big German Shepherd in the next door neighbor's back yard. The German Shepherd belongs to the neighbors who just moved in 2 doors down and he had gotten out of their yard. I am hoping that the cat is okay. I think it was probably one of my wild kitties that live in my backyard. Well, I got scared thinking that maybe Beau or another cat would be the next victim (or a child) and called animal control. I left to go to work, but I started to worry about the dog being hauled off to the pound. I called the animal control officer to see what happend. She told me that the people were REALLY nice and really concerned about the cat. Apparently this dog lives with 2 cats and doesn't usually have a problem with kitties. Anyway, they had to pay a impound fine and the fee to have the dog licensed. I feel really bad. WELCOME to the neighborhood!

Oh gosh - that's awful. I think you did the right thing. My new neighbors had a pit bull with a toddler. The night they moved in I went out to introduce myself and said I wanted introduce my dogs to theirs since they would be sharing a fence line. The dogs got along fine and haven't had a problem. But the pitbull got into an annoying habit of jumping on the six foot fence and just standing there looking around! Freaked me out when I was working in the yard. Finally did this on July 4th when I was having a backyard bar-b-q. (Great, family, friends, food outdoors and a strange dog - scary combo.) I called the police, who couldn't do anything unless the dog bit someone, animal control said the dog was technically in the yard (even if on the fence) so I left a pretty nasty note on the neighbors door. Then they started chaining the dog to a small tree with little water in the Texas heat - good grief, then I was feeling sorry for the dog and trying to fill the water bowl over the fence myself! Thank goodness they are moving!
It sounds like your new neighbors are more understanding and have a conscience!
I know you feel bad, but you did the right thing! You can't be too careful when it comes to loose dogs roaming around the neighborhood.
You did the right thing!!!! What if it was Beau out there??? I think it is better to be safe than sorry... Just make them some cookies to welcome them but don't tell them YOU were the ONE to call the authorities!!!
