Which leads me in to my next topic...Beau's adjustment to Eliza. I must say Beau is quite jealous. He is not necessarily mean to Eliza, he just has to sit as close to me as possible at ALL times. To top it off, he barks like a crazy dog every time the mail is delivered which happens to be Eliza's nap time. I though I was going to lose it today when he woke her up. She had only been sleeping an hour and I needed her to sleep longer. I'm not quite sure what to do, but he may be spending time outside or in the basement during nap time. Poor Beau, but more importantly, poor ME!

This post about Beau made me smile. I have a pom also and when Amelia first came home she was sitting on me every time I sat down for even 2 seconds. I swore my cocker and pom would never be "dogs" (I told this to them repeatedly), but I have noticed myself turning on the poor little one and telling her I am going to kill her if she doesn't shut up (and always in that weird whisper you use when you have to be quite but you really just want to scream at her)....she barks non-stop and almost always when Amelia is asleep. I think she's just trying to punish me in the only way she can (at least she's not peeing on the carpet...yet).
I can tell you that after a year she is pretty much resigned to the fact that she isn't the baby anymore and (I think) consoles herself by stealing Amelia's food.
Good luck, if you find a way to stop that barking at nap time, can you stop by my site and tell me the secret?
She is just so adorable. Poor Beau and poor you! lol
I hear ya! Don't know what i'm going to do with our dog Chewy. He's been a barking beast of late!
My cats took awhile to get used to Emma...I'm sure Beau will adapt soon too.
PS bummer about the nap though!
Oh.. I'm worried about this too with Griffey. I can foresee big jealousy issues. Maybe you can give me advice once you figure it out. Good luck!
PS Griffey turns into a raving lunatic when the mailman comes at our house too. :)
I so hope Beau gets over it soon! At least Eliza is trying to share ;0)
I'm sure I'll have snotty cats but I'm counting on them getting over it..and fast. Time will tell.
Yuck? what do you mean yuck, that toy looks deelicious from the baby-eye view, or it could just be the reflection from that double DDlicious baby. Okay, I just can't stand it, that girl is so dynamite she looks great even going for the dog toys.

Yep, I've had the same experience with the dog barking like a crazy animal at nap time.... very annoying. All in all though my dog Toby has been very patient. What a combo, huh? kids and dogs!
Thats one of the reasons I don't have a dog and kids, naps are too important and so is one less thing to take care of. My sister finally got rid of her dog when he bit her son and the neighbor. I'm sure Beau will get use to Eliza soon and you will be fine.

We have three BIG dogs who also like to bark at anything and everything -- nap time be damned! Luckily, Sydney typically snoozes right through the noise and after 8 months home, my dogs have gotten MUCH quieter. I think that after being told "No," "Quiet," and (yes) "Shut up," they've finally gotten the hint. That and I shut all the curtains during naptime so there is less outside stimulus. I feel for you (and Beau).
