13 Month Update

I can't believe another month has passed. Eliza is 13 months today. It is so fun to see her changing and growing day by day.

  • Eliza is babbling like crazy. She has discovered her voice. She yells da-da at the top of her lungs (I've told her I get the hint). She also babbles words that (loosely) resemble dog and go.
  • She signs so many words now. She just added the sign please to her vocabulary. When I say hot she signs hat...it's really funny and cute.
  • The weather has been so nice lately and she LOVES to be outside. The other day we were on a walk and passed the swings at the park. She started to cry and I thought she wanted me to take her out of the stroller. After taking her out of the stroller she continued to cry and I finally realized that she was crying because I had the audacity to walk past the swings and not stop.
  • Eliza's favorite activity is swinging. When it's time to leave the swings she shakes her head no and then cries as we walk away.
  • Eliza has become VERY opinionated!
  • I can't believe it every time I witness it, but Eliza has extreme difficulty sharing. It seems like she is too young to be doing this but, nevertheless...my nephew was over the other day and I gave him a drink in her sippy cup. She had a fit. This is not an isolated incident. Play dates are not very fun for anyone involved at this point.
  • As usual, Eliza loves vegetables, but edamame is her new favorite.
  • I mentioned that Eliza had been a bit fussy to a co-worker. She asked if I had unknowingly taken a blanket or stuffed animal away. I thought about it, and, yes I had taken the huge, ugly, fleece blanket out of her crib because it had gotten way too warm for such a blanket. While we were sitting outside I asked my sister to grab the blanket and bring it to us. When Eliza spotted the blanket she let out the most excited laugh. I'm not crazy about her choice for her blankie (because it is the most fluffy, hot, large blanket in the house), but a girl gets to pick her own favorite blankie.
  • I feel like I'm always saying Eliza is fussy because of teething, but she has cut 9 teeth in the last 3 months and is in the process of cutting 2 more. That can make a girl a little cranky!
  • Eliza is still a champion sleeper. She naps 3-4 hours during the day. At night she goes down between 8:30 and 9:00 pm and wakes up around 7:30 am (I LOVE daylight savings!).
  • I love my cute, sweet, sassy, opinionated girl so much!

Jenny,
She's in 12 months clothing (12-18 in most Gymboree, Gap, Old Navy), size 3 diaper and size 3 shoes.

I'm sure you feel so blessed to have such a smart and beautiful baby.

I can relate to a number of your comments...Emma used to HOWL when we had to leave the park. It got to the point that I thought we would just stop going. But then I decided she needed to know she wasn't always going to get her way and that even if we left the park, we would be coming back.

The share thing will get better, but it's still a struggle for Emma at age five!

Adorable as usual! I can't get over how much they change month to month...so sad I am missing so much of this with Ava...she will be about 22 months by the time I get her.

I hope to do these little updates also when I get home. It'll be so nice for you to look back on someday and reminisce. Sweet baby girl!

Time is just flying by! I cannot believe that we have been home for four months now. Eliza is such a cutie-pie. Her jovial smile just warms my heart. Liliana has been learning signs like crazy recently. In one month she went from knowing two to knowing and signing about 15. Just amazing our little girls are. One of these days we will have to make a trip out to visit.
Aloha, Bailey :o)
