18 months stats

The girl won't be 18 months until Monday, but close enough. She had her well-check yesterday w/her 1st MMR. With the DPT she usually runs a fever for about 36 hours, but with the MMR so far nothing (Phew). Anyhow, on to business:

  • She weighs 21 lbs. 7 oz. (almost a 1 lb. gain in 3 months). The dr. tells me she is in the 15 %ile for weight, but the nurse always writes it down as the 30th and I'm too lazy to look it up myself.
  • Her height is 31.5 inches (she grew an inch in the last 3 months). She is in the 50th %ile for height.
  • She is following a perfect growth curve. She was a little underweight when she first came home, but since then has been on target.
  • We have been really, really working on using words instead of whining. Now, instead of whining, I am running around answering demands for "more", "help", "please", and "uppy" (up). I am a good servant!
  • Wonder girl is starting to put 2 words together and say phrases. Her latest...we were at a pool party where there were cookies she said and signed "cookie please". She also hands me things and says, "Here you go".
  • Wonder girl can also identify a few letters of the alphabet. It's all due to the great education she is getting from the idiot box (as my grandmother used to call it). She will bring me the letter magnets off of the fridge and tell me what they are. She can pretty consistantly tell me the letters b, p, r, q and t. She also walks around signing e and q.
  • Speaking of T.V., it no longer has magical powers. She watches about 2 seconds per day. Instead of being entertained by the tube while I shower she joins me in the bathroom and throws her toys in the tub. I guess she thinks I look bored?
  • The girl is OBSESSED with my keys. She screams and cries just looking at them in the ignition while I am driving...makes for a very pleasant car experience.
  • She pounds on the front door all day long wanting to go outside. Believe me, we are outside a lot, just not quite enough for her. I try telling her we will melt if we go outside, but she doesn't agree or care.
  • Peek-a-boo is Eliza's game of choice. She puts a blanket over her head all day long and waits for me to say, "where's Eliza? I can't find her?" I then hear little squeals beneath the blanket. Very cute.
  • Favorite song? Popcorn popping on the apricot tree. It has hand motions, but we've added some signs too. This fave now includes the appropriate signs for popcorn, tree and surprise that weren't there before. Anytime I sing anything to Eliza I get interrupted by her requesting "popcorn". I think we sang it 400 times yesterday.
  • That's all I can think of for now. 6 more days of summer vacation. Stay tuned for blubbering idiot posts about having to leave the love of my life at daycare. Have I mentioned that I would give up my career in a milisecond to be able to stay home with my girl? If only.

FYI - my girl's 18-mo stats were almost identical to Eliza's and her height was 50%, weight 30%.

She too seems to love my keys, just not to the extent as your Eliza - yowza, driving must be fun! (we've only had that experience once!)

Peekaboo is one of my girl's words - aren't they just too precious!

Wow.. Eliza looks to be coming along just perfectly. Thanks to her mommas wonderful parenting/mothering skills! :-) So sorry your summer is coming to an end so quickly. I remember those days myself. (many, many years ago though)

Tess is 18 months on Friday and has her checkup on Monday. I am anxious to see her weight, though I don't think she is as tall as Eliza. Tess also LOVES keys and going outside. Yesterday I had just started her on dinner and was putting her shoes on while in her high chair, saying "I'm putting your shoes on, so we can go outside after dinner." And at that point she would have no more dinner and insisted on going "ow-siiiiiiiii" (outside). So glad to hear Miss E is doing well and sorry to hear summer is almost over. Can't wait to see you guys soon!

Awesome updates! And whoahoho, what is this about a popcorn and apricot tree song? The girls are MAD for both popcorn and cots, so I guess instead of napping while they nap I'm going to head off to Google this song.

See you soon!!!

Regarding your last bullet, I say, "You and me both." It's devastating to have to go back to school. Just devastating. My first contract day is tomorrow, and the kids start Tuesday. Boo, hoo, hoo!!!

She's growing so fast! As for your last bullet - I hear ya! My job doesn't have the wonder of summer vacation, so I yearn for the weekends year long.

Tiffany,
Congrats to you & Eliza!! I can't believe how much your little girl has grown- such a precious baby/toddler! I can't help but wonder... what will Eliza be for Halloween? All the costumes are already out & I'd be willing to bet you've looked!

It's exhausting, I tell ya! This motherhood thing! Esp the age you are at with the constant REPETITION!!!! As annoying as it can be at times, it doesn't last forever. It's cute. And, personally, I think the "idiot box" can help enforce things you are teaching your kids, so it's not all bad, huh? She is so smart, I love it!!!
