Frenulum Labii Superioris
I can't say I knew what a Frenulum Labii Superioris was before today. Yesterday Eliza was playing outside on the playground at school and hurt her lip. At the end of the day when I picked her up she had a big swollen lip. I didn't think about it much more until tonight. I was brushing her teeth and noticed that her lip was still a little swollen. I pulled her lip out to look around and found that she had torn the little piece of skin between your lip and gums, the Frenulum Labii Superioris. It is a gaping wound and I started to worry that I would have to take her in to the doctor tomorrow. After doing a little research on the internet I found that this is a pretty common occurance in toddlers and it usually heals fine without stitches. Thank goodness because they would have had to knock her out to even look at her mouth let alone put stitches in it.

Poor baby! Glad it will heal on its own.

Sending her a big ladybug hug to make her feel better!

Ahhh..Latin visits once again. Don't you just love how medical terminology sounds so eloquent? ;0)
Sending E wishes for some speedy healing.
Bless her heart! Sending hugs from Florida.

Oh, that just sounds horrible (for both of you!). Glad it won't need stitches...poor baby. You have probably already thought about this, but I bet popcicles would help with the swelling.
Ouch, poor little E. I get the willies just thinking about it. Thankfully it will heal on its own. Hugs.
I hate it when they get hurt! Good luck with the Frenulum Labii Superioris!

Ouchie! I'm glad it's one of those 'it'll heal on it's own' boo-boos. Julia still tells me all the time--"doctah hurt"!!
The mouth really heals fast! Anna bit h huge cut into her tounge last summer and I thought we would need stitches, but by the next day the cut was half as small and a few days later it was gone.
