Babysitter Success
I hired a sitter last night. I warned her that Eliza may cry...for an extended period. I prepared Eliza during the day, telling her that Elizabeth would be coming over to play with her. The real secret to my success was this: Don't let your T.V.-loving-toddler watch T.V. during the day, but promise her that she can watch a show with the sitter. When Elizabeth walked in Eliza ran up to her and said, "Hi Elizabeth, you wanna watch a show?!". That was it. I put Dora on and tried to say goodbye, but I was obviously interrupting. A complete success, which is nice because Elizabeth is watching Eliza 2 days next week while I work (I start back to work on Tues. and daycare opens on Thurs.).

Hi Tiffany,
Just catching up on your blog, I got so far behind. Anyway, it is all so exciting with the possible move and b2!! You are such mover and a shaker. I had no clue that single women could adopt domestically and would love to follow your journey. I thought they didn't even let singles try since birthmom's like to pick couples. Will it be through foster care adoption? Anyway, I can always relate so much to your posts and Eliza's phases. Abbey has been sleeping with me since we got to China and I am going to watch for the open window to get her into her own room and bed. Don't think at all that you won't get married, I definitely think that if you want to you will. Right guy, right time and place. You seem to be ready but there's always a bigger picture. Maybe b2 comes first or maybe this guy will be ready along the way. Thank you for the TV sitter tip too, plan to use it.
Great idea! Things change so fast around here, its always hard to predict how my girl will respond . . .
We had a sitter every day last week - we made it through with flying colors! Hope your week goes well!!
Oh, excellent advice! I swear I should keep a notebook near this computer designated for all the great advice I get reading blogs!
Where did you find your sitter? I am SO READY to use one, but I have no idea where to even start to find one.
Great idea about the tv, my kids are tv hounds!
Great idea! Thanks! So glad Eliza had a good time with her sitter.
Awewsome! Movies always work as incentives for my kids too!!
Can't go wrong with someone named Elizabeth :)
Anne & Elizabeth
I dread thinking about babysitters, not from my daughter's perspective, but my own. I could hardly handle my baby sister having a sitter, so finally my mom just kept me out of school once in awhile so I could take care of her when my mom had to do something. Perhaps after being a mom for certain amount of time I'll be ready for a night out, but I can't see it happening for quite while. At least I have two friends who I'd trust with her!
I am so glad it worked out! Feeling bad that your summer is over. I think summer break should be the 9 months and work should be the 3.
I totally understand the T.V. working like a charm when it comes to separating from our little ones. I'm glad it works!! And that's exciting about putting your house up; welcome to the club.
You're a genius!
I agree- genius plan!
