This 'n That

Sometimes I feel like the most boring mom on the block. I'm all out of ideas and energy. I wish it weren't so easy and entertaining to turn the T.V. on. Yesterday was almost 100 degrees and that only makes things worse. Who wants to move when it's that hot? I guess I'm saying that I suck at being the entertainment committee around here!
My new camera has an issue. I have to send it off to get fixed. I'm going through withdrawals. I hate my point and shoot. I really hate it. I guess I should peel my butt off the couch and make my way to the post office to mail the camera off to be fixed. Maybe I'll do that soon, since we are having a cold spell that's caused the temps. to plunge down to the 80's and, therefore, causes me to be slightly more motivated.
Eliza has been doing pretty well at school. She was fussy through lunch today and barely ate a bite of her lunch. When I asked her why she was crying she told me, "I was crying because I didn't know when you were coming to get me". Mercy me. We talk about her schedule at school quite regularly and precisely when I pick her up. I think Eliza and I would both agree that it's fun to go back to work/school for a couple of days and then we should get another break. I find myself thinking how absurd it is that I actually have to work 5 days a week now! By Tuesday I'm done. We'll get back into the swing of things eventually.
Eliza is really, really into the daddy subject or maybe it's just families in general? If she sees a picture of a child in a book without a mommy by her side she gets quite passionate about pointing it out. She'll then repeat that she has a mommy, but we don't have a daddy. She is in love with her mommy (and her mommy with her), and is trying to sort out the daddy issue. I think I need to start pointing out different families and emphasizing that all families are different. It's a subject that is obviously fascinating at the moment.

Our Family!
My attempt at being fun...I made 4 different colors of shaving cream with food coloring and let her have at it. We put beards on our faces and smeared it on our arms to make green monster arms. She then proceeded to wash her doll's hair. It turned into an hour of bathtub fun.

I also suck at this entertainment committee that I happen to be on.
I am so excited for the fall I am counting down! School started today so i think the boredom will be more manageable.

Future solution: a sibling. I tell ya, it really works.

You know that I am 10000000% on the not-motivated-in-the-heat boat with you. I am so sick of it. I feel like I literally do not want to move a muscle.

I think that is the curse of motherhood to always think we aren't doing enough, huh?

Well I have a digiSLR but I like my point and shoot better!

A boring mom would not have the idea to make colored shaving cream. How fun!

I don't think you are boring at all. Love the shave cream idea....i would have NEVER thought of that. So what happened to your camera. If something went wrong on mine, I don't know if I would know. Please feel me in on what happened.

Your such a fun mom!

What a good mommy you are..and a fun one as well. It's hard to be the entire entertainment crew, especially after a full work week.

I don't think you're boring at all- Eliza is lucky to have such a good, fun mommy.

keep the posts coming about the daddy stuff- i am really interested in learning about how to handle this.

what a great idea to color shaving cream! we're big fans of the water coloring tablets.

you probably have it already, but i really like the family book by todd par.r, it talks about ALL kinds of families - its a longtime fave in our house.

also, ck out wondertime and family fun magazines, they have TONS of ideas on crafts and things to do, which are always a life saver.

enjoy the end of summer, pretty soon you'll be longing for the heat :)
