I am always amazed at some of the comments and questions people come up with regarding the pending adoption of my baby. I was at church today and I saw my elderly next door neighbor sitting by herself so I decided to join her. She leaned over and whispered "So, have you gone to China for your baby yet?". What I'm sure she meant to say was "how is the adoption going?" or something like that. I did the only thing I could. I looked around and said, "Do you see my baby anywhere?" I'm sure I could have said something a little more nice. I think I embarassed her, but come on! I live next door! She sees me coming and going every single day. If I had been to China and had a baby, I think she would know. Poor girl, she tried to ask what she thought was an innocent question, and she got a snotty answer from me. Watch out people! I've been waiting 13 months! You never know what may come out of my mouth!

welcome back to church ;-)
and i still think you should type up a little note to pass out answering any and all possible questions before they're even asked!
would def. get annoying!!!
I love this one..."well, I guess she will be a lot older when you bring her home, huh?" Then when I *try* to explain that we won't know specifically who she is until we get our referral, they say," Oh, you don't know who she is...how does she already have a name?" Ughhh...my responses to (even the nicest) folks have definitely changed tone, too! 13 months is just TOO long to answer questions! Feeling your frustration! :) Bobbi
Man, do I know what you mean! I get REAL sick of all the "kids" questions and sometimes just want to say "it's none of your business, so just leave me alone!" I don't think people always think before they ask questions like that!
People ask the nosiest questions at the most inopportune times. I once told a not-so-well-meaning person who inquired as to why we didn't have children the following: "To be honest, we don't like children." That shut her up! Must admit it was not my finest adoption-journey moment. But, there are some folks with foot in mouth syndrome that actually mean well... its just tough to tell them apart at times. Hang in there, Eliza's coming soon.
Hmmmmm- Are we suppose to take our babies with us to CHURCH???? I guess I missed that memo... Note to self, remember to take daughter with me places!!!

It must be the fact that I've been waiting 13 months too because I actually laughed so loud I snorted at your comment. We're allowed to be snarky, we've earned it!
