I love this 14 month old girl so much! This pic of my wild girl was taken on the stairs of Yvette's house at our monthly single mommy meeting. Eliza had a great time going up and down and up and down and up and down (you get the picture) the stairs!
- Eliza has taken 4 very wobbly steps all by herself (running).
- She now says Beau, mem (mom), cracker and ball very consistently. She will try to say lots of other things and is now babbling questions. It's very cute.
- I'm not sure if I've mentioned this, but Eliza's life wouldn't be complete without Beau. His name was her first word. Beau wasn't here the morning we left for California. She must have said his name 100 times wondering where he was. She will get within one inch of his face and just look at him and then kiss him. She steals his sticks and then he takes them back. It's so cute to see my 2 favorite people together (yes, Beau is a person!).
- A ball is her very favorite toy in the whole world. She signs ball every time she sees a ball anywhere.
- Eliza LOVES the slide. She will go down head first on her belly and not think twice about it.
- She has started singing in the car when the music is on. It's so cute to hear that little voice in the back seat.
- She has 13 teeth!
- She emphatically signs Signing Time when she is in the mood for T.V. She woke up at 4:30 this morning and then at 5:00 when I decided to bring her in bed with me. At 6:15 she popped up and signed Signing Time. I was so tired of waking up every half hour that I actually got up and put it on for her.
- The hitting, scratching, pinching has decreased. I decided that time out wasn't happening when after the minute mark was up I said, "Okay, no more hitting mommy. Let's go." and she shook her head no because she was enjoying her time on the fun stool. I've started redirecting her by giving her an alternate activity like patting my mouth and making noises instead of hitting my face. Much more effective for Miss Eliza.
- Eliza is still taking 2 naps a day. She has started staying up later so I'm considering cutting her naps to down to one (partially because this mommy needs a little break at night).
- Eliza eats anything besides meat. If I try and sneak a little piece in she will fish it out of her mouth and throw it on the floor.
- We went through a stage where Eliza would cry if anyone would try to talk to her. She was quite clingy for a while. I always let her be the one to decide if and when she wanted to go to someone else. Recently she has become secure enough to go to other people at this point (unless you are a man). I love that she will venture away, but still comes back to check in with me.
- She loves my friend Heidi who lives 4 doors down from me. Eliza screeches the minute she sees Heidi and always waves as we pass her house. She also love my sister Lexy who babysits her while I am at work. When she comes upstairs in the morning Eliza dives into her arms.
- Eliza still cries when I leave for work. It lasts about 5 seconds...just enough to make my heart break. It's a tough one...I want her to want me and miss me, but I hate to see her cry.
- 14 months is a very fun and challenging stage. She is a little snuggler. She will be off playing and come to me for a quick love and then she is off again. Eliza comprehends so much and has such a fun, wild, playful, willful personality.

Holy cow...13 teeth. Maylin is 13 months and only has 6. She is so cute. I am glad she has mastered stairs. You probably aren't tho'. You can just feel the love you have for her! What a good mom! We got Maylin's referral today. I know backwards, but that is how the whole thing went for us.
Wow she has grown! You are doing a wonderful job with her too :)
Eliza is growing up and changing so quickly. I love that you share all the milestones each month.
Hope you are feeling better and doing well.
Happy 14 months old Eliza! How fun! I had a hitting issue for a while too with Chloe. I took her hand and said, "Gentle with momma,"and moved her hand so she was stroking my face. I also had her say, "Sorry Momma," and kiss me. It worked for us. Amazingly, when she hits me she follows it with an "I'm sorry Momma" and a kiss.
Glad to hear that you are having a blast with your 14 month old. It just keeps getting better ....
Much love to you,
Happy 14 months, Eliza! I just love those little pig tails.
She sure is good at cutting chompers! When I met Mali she was 15 months old & had only 8 teeth.
Wow... 14 months. They do go by fast don't they! Eliza sounds right on track though and it sounds like the two of you have a perfect bond. :-) Keep up the good work Mom!
Aawww Eliza is doing so well :) We are almost a month behind you so I love to see where we "may" be in another month ! The steps are a big thing .. wow :) We still have 6 teeth but expect another 2 in the nearest future, no wonder Eliza was having a rough time with 13 !!
Take care,
Amy
I adore that picture. Happy 14 months, sweet girl!
My gosh they grow up so fast... loved hearing the update.
And JUST discovered, by the way, Baby Nay through Jen's blog. I'm going to be plunging into more debt doing some retail therapy during this long wait!
You are doing such a great job with her - and what a joy she is! I love checking your blog for new pictures. The "evil little grin" on her face in this one is just TOO MUCH! What a sweetie.
What a fun update! She has so much personality.
I love reading all of Eliza's milestones. I am too impatient to write them down. I can't wait to see you guys on Thursday. I nedd to see if Eliza reminds me of Anna as much in person as she does on your posts. Her smile looked so much like Anna's in that picture.
tiff, i love these updates. they really give us a glimpse of all the special details through the eyes of a mother who is crazy about her little girl! look how her hair is growing! and what a smile!
