I've been absent from my blog for a little while. The school year is winding down (thank heavens) and having a two year old is keeping me busy, busy, busy (not to mention my feral cat issues...have I mentioned that I'm tired of being the cat lady?). I really wonder what I used to do with my time. There were less weeds in my yard, that's for sure! Eliza's school spring performance is tomorrow night. I promise to post pics soon. I must, once again, leave you with a conversation Eliza and I had the other day:
Me: (after hearing a huge scream from Eliza while driving in the car) Holy cow!
Eliza: I'm not a holy cow. I'm a girl!
Alrighty, then! She has also ordered me to time-out this week. That didn't go over so well. I wanted to be irritated but the tears in my eyes (from holding in laughter) could only be contained for so long. Actually, I should have taken her up on it. Maybe she'll order me to take a nap soon? I told a friend tonight that my parenting skills rotate between setting boundaries and trying not to upset the queen bee (while still pretending to be in charge). It's a tough balancing act, I tell ya. I'm exhausted, but I love the girl so darn much and can't think of anyone I'd rather spend my days with. Have I mentioned summer is almost here? 3 months of being home with my girl...I can't wait!

I, too, vacillate between laying down the law because I'm supreme-commander-of-your-existence-and-don't-you-forget it, and asking "do you want fries with that?" after every demand. It IS tough!
Joleigh is the same way! She is even learning how to drive.....from the back seat. We were coming home from TN and a car slammed on brakes in front of us....and she hollared at her Daddy. "I told you to be careful!" She cracks me up!
I so hope I learn that balance- I am always looking to all you single been there done that moms! You inspire me!
As frustrated as I get sometimes, I have to remind myself that Mali's assertive (bossy!)attitude & determination are the reasons she has made it SO far in this world. & I'm SO thankful for that =) I go back & forth between being totally frustrated, and completely smitten with her.
I think I'll find a lot more patience when summer vacation arrives!! It just isn't coming fast enough.
Happy 'balancing'!
Will we ever be in control again? It apparently doesn't get better. heh heh heh
Bless your heart, glad you're surviving. Bet you're looking forward to that summer!
I would have been on the floor laughing hysterically with that comment! Your girl is so funny! How can you not love her? I love her - she is just so darn cute and expressive!
Thanks for the invite to the singing- I would have loved to see it but I won't be able to make it. I am working on trying to make SWACK.....laying down the law that my workshop in Colorado Springs must end by 3:00 pm - we'll see. I may be late but I would love to stop by.
Take care,
L.
I feel just like you. I looked around my house last night and said, "It is never clean any more." I really can't keep up. I am sure glad she knows she isn't a cow. That is funny! Hang in there, summer (a summer with snow?) is almost here!
